  • Semi-evergreen - Keeps some of its foliage all year, and will drop some leaves as well. - heart-shaped to rounded, toothed, bright-green leaves to 6cm (2½in) long.
  • Blue
  • Height - 20cm (8in)
  • Spread - 30cm (12in) or more.
  • Herbaceous - Early in the year, typically January till end of March, herbaceous plants might be supplied in 9cm pots to ensure timely despatch. - rhizomatous perennial. Produces flowers 2cm (¾in) or more across with spurs to 5mm (¼in) long.
  • Hardy - very cold winter - Hardy in all of UK and northern Europe. Plant can possibly withstand temperatures down to -20°C (-4°F)

  • Additional Features - Good to know - the edible flowers are used in confectionery. Wildlife plant. Bees, flies. Ants are particularly attracted to outgrowths on the seeds and so aid dispersal.
  • Medicinal properties - used, generally, as a sedative.
  • Pests & Diseases - slugs, snails. aphids, red spider mites. Leaf spot, possibly mosaic viruses, rust and powdery mildew
