Commonly known as Australian blackwood, Blackwood acacia
Similar to A. longifolia but with pinnate young foliage
Evergreen - matt-green to greyish-green phyllodes (leaves) to 15cm (6in) long.
Cream - to pale yellow.
Height - 5-25m (15-80ft)
Spread - 4-12m (13-40ft)
Tree - or shrub with an erect to spreading habit and freely-branching angular stems. Produces flowers 1cm (½in) across in racemes 5-10cm (2-4in) long.
Half hardy - unheated greenhouse / mild winter - Hardy in coastal and relatively mild parts of the UK except in severe winters and a risk from sudden (early) frosts. May be hardy elsewhere with wall shelter or good micro-climate. Likely to be damaged or killed in cold winters. Plant can withstand temperatures down to -5°C (23°F)
