  • Deciduous - leaves, 5-15cm (2-6in) long are often rose-tinted as they unfurl and have 3 to 5 blunt lobes.
  • Yellow - yellow-green
  • Height - 15-20m (50-65ft)
  • Spread - 4-8m (14-30ft)
  • Tree - smooth, pale greyish trunk is initially smooth before developing shallow fissures. Produces upright clusters of insignificant flowers. Winged seeds develop in pairs.
  • Hardy - very cold winter - Hardy in all of UK and northern Europe. Plant can possibly withstand temperatures down to -20°C (-4°F)

  • Additional Features - Good to know - - the native maple. Wildlife plant - nectar and pollen for insects. Makes excellent clipped hedge. Use leaves to wrap apples for storage to help preserve them.
