  • Evergreen - inversely lance-shaped leaves 1-3.5cm (½-1½in) long, dark green above, often cream or silvery beneath.
  • Purple - Shades of purple/mauve/lilac/violet - rose purple
  • Height - 75cm (30in)
  • Spread - 75cm (30in)
  • Dwarf shrub - Typically only grows to a maximum of one or two feet in height but there will be some exceptions. - nodding, thimble-shaped flowers 1-2.5cm (½-1in) long on long stems.
  • Hardy - cold winter - Hardy in most places throughout the UK even in severe winters. May not withstand open/exposed sites or central/northern locations. Plant can withstand temperatures down to -15°C (5°F)
  • Full sun - sunny site, but not too hot
  • Additional Features - Good to know - - makes a good container plant. Keep cool, avoiding reflected heat (eg from walls)
  • Pests & Diseases - vine weevils, scale insects, powdery mildew, bud blast, honey fungus
  • Place of origin - Tibet, western China, northeastern Burma. Collected by Frank Kingdon Ward c. 1920
