    Small, fern-like, light-green leaves each have 11-17 elliptic or oblong leaflets 1-3cm (half to one and a quarter ins. ) long.

    Stiff, upright, vigorous species rose with large, translucent red prickles to 3cm (1.25in) or more wide and 2cm (¾in) tall on young stems. Solitary, single flowers 2.5-6cm (1-2½in) across, briefly, in summer followed by red hips.
  • Hardy - cold winter
    Hardy in most places throughout the UK even in severe winters. May not withstand open/exposed sites or central/northern locations. Plant can withstand temperatures down to -15°C (5°F)
