CALCEOLARIA

Commonly known as Pouch flower, Slipper flower

Usually candidates for cool glasshouses or summer bedding.

Genus of about 300 species of annuals, biennials, perennials and shrubs, some of them scandent, fron diverse habitats ranging from dry scrub to alpine regions.

They occur in temperate and tropical areas of Mexico, Central and South America and the Falkland Islands.

    Greenhouse / conservatory Not the sort of plants to be grown outside where there are likely to be frosts. These plants need to be grown in a conservatory or cool greenhouse or at least brought inside for the winter - under glass grow in loam-based compost ( JI No. 2) in bright, filtered light.
