Delivery Information Available late spring to early summer 2021
  • Evergreen - ovate-oblong, velvety-hairy, greyish green leaves to 15cm (6in) long, sometimes maturing to bright scarlet.
  • Purple - Shades of purple/mauve/lilac/violet - bluish purple
  • Height - 3-6m (10-20ft)
  • Spread - 2-3m (6½-10ft)
  • Tall Shrub - open, erect shrub with 4-angled, hairy stems. Produces satin-textured flowers to 10cm (4in) , or more, across
  • Heated greenhouse - warm temperate - Can be grown outside in summer. Plant can withstand temperatures down to 5°C (41°F)
  • Full sun
  • Additional Features - Good to know - - under glass will need restrictive pruning in late winter
  • Pests & Diseases - red spider mites, aphids, oedema
  • Place of origin - southeastern Brazil
  • Hardiness - Tender (greenhouse & conservatory) -

    Suitable for: Evergreen shrubs or climbers that need little to no pruning.
    Action: Trim back shoots that spoil symmetry and to fit available space.
    When: Annually after flowering if on previous year's growth, or in later Winter or Spring if flowering on current year's growth, or as requires.
