Commonly known as Tibetan whitebeam
Rounded leaves covered in white hairs ageing to dark green. Creamy-white flowers and brown berries
Deciduous - large, broadly elliptical leaves reaching 15cm (6in) across
White - creamy white
Height - 20m (66ft)
Spread - 15m (49ft)
Tree - ultimately large tree. Produces flowers in corymbs to 6cm (2½in) across followed by spherical to pear-shaped berries 1.5cm (½in) across, ripening orange or yellow
Hardy - very cold winter - Hardy in all of UK and northern Europe. Plant can possibly withstand temperatures down to -20°C (-4°F)
Partial shade - light, dappled shade
