Commonly known as Korean clematis, Virgin's bower

Lemon-scented soft yellow flowers with dark stamens, blooming from late summer to autumn. Silky seed heads last well into winter

  • Deciduous - pinnate, usually 5-toothed leaflets. More delicate than the usual foliage
  • Yellow - with purple stamens
  • Height - 2.5-4m (8-13ft)
  • Spread - 1-1.5m (3-5ft)
  • Climber - Some of these climbing plants will need trellis or wire supports if grown on walls or fences. Other grow aerial roots and are self-clinging - woody-stemmed twining climber. Flowers appear singly, or in groups of 2-or 3, mainly from the upper axils. Fluffy seed heads
  • Hardy - average winter - Hardy through most of the UK apart from inland valleys, at altitude and central/northerly locations. May suffer foliage damage and stem dieback in harsh winters in cold gardens. Plant can withstand temperatures down to -10°C (14°F)
