Commonly known as Thorow wax
Genus of about 190 species of annuals, perennials and evergreen or semi-evergreen shrubs widely distributed throughout the northern hemisphere with some species in southern Africa.
A staple of traditional Chinese medicine for over 2000 years as a detoxifier.
It is represented in the UK by the very rare (outside cultivation) and possibly extinct, B. falcatum, Sickle hare'e ear. a native perennial of waste places and hedgebanks.
Evergreen - variably shaped leaves, often with conspicuous parallel veins.
Medium shrub - Typically grow to around 4-6 feet in height - produces star-shaped yellow or green flowers.
Full sun - any well drained soil

Place of origin - northern hemisphere.
Resistant to honey fungus - These plants have little or few problems with honey fungus.
