Commonly known as Common box, Dudgeon
Genus of about 70 species of evergreen shrubs and trees from rocky hills and woodland in Europs, Asia, Africa and Central America.
Accepted as the primary shrub for hedging and topiary.
EvergreenNarrow leaves to 2cm (¾in) long.
Medium shrubTypically grow to around 4-6 feet in heightDense, bushy shrub.
Hardy - cold winterHardy in most places throughout the UK even in severe winters. May not withstand open/exposed sites or central/northern locations. Plant can withstand temperatures down to -15°C (5°F)
Partial shadeThey will tolerate sun but it affects foliage appearance.
