  • Evergreen - pinnate, dark green leaves to 40cm (16in) long, with 2-4 pairs of large, elliptic or oblong, few-spined leaflets to 12cm (4¾in) long, with a larger terminal leaflet. Leaves are a striking chalky white beneath, which disappears with age.
  • Purple - Shades of purple/mauve/lilac/violet - purple red outside
