EUPHORBIA stygiana

Commonly known as Spurge, Wolf's milk

A rare species which is endangered in the wild in the Azores. It grows to around 5 feet as an architectural shrub, narrow bright green leaves and honey scented flowerheads

  • Evergreen - leaves, to 15cm (6in) long, have prominent pale midribs
  • Yellow - yellow green
  • Height - 1.4m (5ft)
  • Spread - 2m (6½ft)
  • Medium shrub - Typically grow to around 4-6 feet in height - clump-forming perennial. Produces terminal clusters of pale yellow flowers
  • Hardy - average winter - Hardy through most of the UK apart from inland valleys, at altitude and central/northerly locations. May suffer foliage damage and stem dieback in harsh winters in cold gardens. Plant can withstand temperatures down to -10°C (14°F) - borderline
  • Full sun - shelter from strong winds
  • Caution, toxic if eaten, may cause skin allergy or irritant - These plants are toxic if eaten and may also cause a skin allergy, rash, irritation to eyes and skin.
