ZELKOVA abelicea

A rare species with slender twigs and small toothed leaves. Small white scented flowers

  • Deciduous - ovate, thick-textured, glossy, dark green leaves to 2.5cm (1in) long with up to 6 or 7 teeth on either side. They turn from yellow to orange-brown in autumn
  • White
  • Height - 5m (16ft)
  • Spread - 7m (23ft)
  • Tall Shrub - or small tree. Spreading, bushy-headed with white-hairy young shoots
  • Hardy - cold winter - Hardy in most places throughout the UK even in severe winters. May not withstand open/exposed sites or central/northern locations. Plant can withstand temperatures down to -15°C (5°F)
  • Full sun
  • Partial shade
  • Additional Features - Good to know - syn. Z. cretica. Much smaller than Z. serrata and suitable for smaller gardens
  • Pests & Diseases - bacterial canker, horse-chestnut scale
