DAPHNE bholua 'Limpsfield'



Purple-pink in bud, opening paler with white to purple tones. Richly scented and floriferous

 

  • Good to know - all daphnes resent transplanting
  • Pests & Diseases - aphids, leaf spot, grey mould, viruses
  • Scented flowers - richly fragrant
  • Height - 2-4m (6½-13ft)
  • Spread - 1.5m (5ft)
  • Semi-evergreen - Keeps some of its foliage all year, and will drop some leaves as well. - elliptic to lance-shaped, leathery, dark green leaves to 10cm (4in) long
  • Tall Shrub - upright, rarely spreading, habit. Flowers in axillary and terminal clusters of 7-15 to 1.5cm (½in) across
  • Hardy - average winter - Hardy through most of the UK apart from inland valleys, at altitude and central/northerly locations. May suffer foliage damage and stem dieback in harsh winters in cold gardens. Plant can withstand temperatures down to -10°C (14°F)
  • Fertile well drained soil - humus-rich. Mulch to keep roots cool
  • Neutral to alkaline soil - most prefer alkaline to slightly acid soils
  • Full sun
  • Partial shade
  • Flower Colour - Purple - Shades of purple/mauve/lilac/violet
