BAPTISIA 'Lemon Meringue'

Commonly known as False indigo

Robust, upright perennial with glaucous leaves and bright yellow, pea-like flowers

 

  • Deciduous - leaves with 3 leaflets, to 5cm (2in) long
  • Yellow
  • Height - 1.2m (4ft)
  • Spread - 80cm (32in)
  • Herbaceous - Early in the year, typically January till end of March, herbaceous plants might be supplied in 9cm pots to ensure timely despatch. - upright perennial with leaves with 3 leaflets to 5cm (2in) long. Opens up after flowering and may need staking, or can be cut back
  • Hardy - cold winter - Hardy in most places throughout the UK even in severe winters. May not withstand open/exposed sites or central/northern locations. Plant can withstand temperatures down to -15°C (5°F)
  • Additional Features - Good to know - - wildlife plant - insects. Baptisia develops a long taproot so is best left undisturbed. Pods can be left as an attractive feature into autumn
