  • Deciduous - linear, grey-green leaves to 6cm (2½in) long, silver-scaly to bronze-scaly on both surfaces
  • Green - yellow-green
  • Height - 6m (20ft)
  • Spread - 6m (20ft)
  • Hedge - Ideal for hedging
  • Tall Shrub - bushy shrub or small tree with spiny shoots. Pollinated female plants produce heavy crops of edible, teardrop-shaped, bright orange fruits
  • Very hardy - Hardy in the severest continental climates including exposed upland locations in the UK. Plant can withstand temperatures < -20 (-4°F)
  • Full sun
  • Additional Features - Berries - These plants have berries.
  • Good to know - use 'Pollmix' male for pollination. Form of the native sea-buckthorn. Wildlife plant - fieldfares in a hard winter, moths
  • Medicinal properties - vitamin C content is 15 times greater than that of oranges. Used in drinks and the oils in cosmetics
  • Pests & Diseases - trouble free
  • Place of origin - Europe, Asia, from Atlantic coasts to northwestern China
  • Resistant to honey fungus - These plants have little or few problems with honey fungus.
