  • Deciduous - broadly ovate to elliptic leaves to 8cm (3in) long. Produces drooping male catkins to 2cm (¾in) long
  • Height - 12m (39ft)
  • Spread - 3m (10ft)
  • Tree - often multi-stemmed tree. Bark peels in tight curls exposing chocolate brown underside on young trunk and branches. Bark non older trees becomes thick, corky and blackish brown
  • Very hardy - Hardy in the severest continental climates including exposed upland locations in the UK. Plant can withstand temperatures < -20 (-4°F)
  • Full sun
