An unusual lily which will take 5-7 years to produce an enormous 6-10ft high flowering spike of scented white flowers with a deep throat. After flowering the plant will die but large quantities of offsets and seedlings will appear nearby to develop again

  • Bulb/Corm or rhizomatous perennial
    Bulbous monocarpic perennial. Basal rosettes of large, oval, glossy, dark-green leaves to 45cm (18in) long
  • Herbaceous
    Early in the year, typically January till end of March, herbaceous plants might be supplied in 9cm pots to ensure timely despatch.
  • Hardy - average winter
    Hardy through most of the UK apart from inland valleys, at altitude and central/northerly locations. May suffer foliage damage and stem dieback in harsh winters in cold gardens. Plant can withstand temperatures down to -10°C (14°F)
  • Partial shade
    Cool and sheltered site. Will not tolerate hot and dry conditions.
