CARPENTERIA
Commonly known as Tree anemone
Genus of 1 species of evergreen shrub found in dry scrub and pine forests in California, USA.
Closely related to Philadelphus it is known as the tree or bush anemone.
In the wild it regenerates from stump sprouts after fire. Natural seedlings are rare.
In the UK it first flowered in Godalming in the garden of Gertrude Jekyll in 1885.
