    Full Plant Details - Sun/Soil & other attributes
    • Good to know
      Damp down trunk and leaves regularly on hot days.
    • Pests & Diseases
      Rhizoctonia on young plants.
    • Place of origin
      Mountain forests in the subtropics and tropics of the southern hemisphere.
    • Evergreen
    • Frost hardy (down to -5)
    • Fern
      Pole-like fibrous trunks topped by large, pinnate fronds. Crowns of uncurling fronds are densely covered by white, brown or black scales.
    • Will grow outside in milder locations
      This could include plants which would survive happily in a greenhouse or conservatory if not in a mild location. If you have a sheltered spot in your garden then it may do well here.
    • Fertile moist well-drained soil
    • Full sun
      Will tolerate sun in moist soil.
