    Leaves are 1-3.5cm (½ to 1½in) long with narrow grey bands beneath.

    Female cones are cylindrical, green and brown, 15-25cm (6-10in) long and are produced on the uppermost branches when the tree is 6m (20ft) tall

    Whorled branches when young. Becomes broad and columnar with age.

    Hardy in the severest continental climates including exposed upland locations in the UK. Plant can withstand temperatures < -20 (-4°F)
