      Or small tree. Broadly upright at first, later spreading. Produces broadly tubular flowers with lobes to 5mm (¼in) or more across in small axillary clusters. Ovoid, dark purple fruits to 1.5cm (½in) long with a white bloom.

      Suitable for: Evergreen shrubs that require minimal pruning.
      Action: Trim or lightly cut back shoots that spoil symmetry. Deadhead regularly.
      When: Annually after flowering.
