      leaves to 30cm (12in) long have up to 23 lance-shaped or elliptic, blunt leaflets. Foliage turns from yellow-green in summer to orange-yellow in autumn.

    • Tree
      Fast-growing, suckering tree with usually spiny shoots. Produces flowers 2cm (¾in) long in pendent racemes to 20cm (8in) long, followed by smooth, dark-brown seed pods 10cm (4in) long.

      Suitable for: Deciduous and evergreen trees, and some deciduous shrubs.
      Pruning: Minimal pruning required. Prune wayward or crossing branches to maintain a healthy framework.
      When: When dormant in the late winter/early spring. Some in the summer/autumn to prevent bleeding of sap.

      Suitable for: Deciduous trees and shrubs that flower on current year's growth or are grown for winter stem effect.
