SCHISANDRA
Genus of about 23 species of twining, woody, monoecious or dioecious, deciduous or evergreen climbers from woodland in eastern Asia, with one species from southeastern USA.
Brightly coloured fruits are dependent on both male and female plants of dioecious plants being grown.
The Chinese name, wu wèi zi reflects the basic 5 flavours, salty, sweet, sour, pungent (spicy) and bitter.
