    Genus of about 350 species of evergreen shrubs and subshrubs or herbaceous perennials, some of them climbing, found in rainforest in Mexico, the West Indies and from tropical South America to northern Argentina.

    Purple glory tree
    (now Pleroma urvilleanum) - very large reddish-purple flowers. A more compact habit than T. semi-decandra but pruning will be required to keep the plant under control. Suitable for pot growing on patios in the summer
