    KNAUTIA

    Commonly known as Scabious

    An important, long-flowering  insect attractor whose seedheads provide winter food for birds.

    Genus of 40 or more species of scabious-like annuals and perennials from limestone grassland, scrub and woodland in Europe, Caucasus, Russia (Siberia) and North Africa.

    The UK native is the Field scabious, K. arvensis (of the field), also known in the past as Gypsy rose. It is a common plant of dry grassland, waste places and roadsides.

      Early in the year, typically January till end of March, herbaceous plants might be supplied in 9cm pots to ensure timely despatch.
