Ucodendron whartonii flowers

Ucodendron whartonii flowers
This news article is from our news archive, details may be out of date - thank you.

We first planted this Ucodendron in May 2017, and it really is a bit of a surprise. It is a new genus which is currently unclassified. It is flowering for the time with us and the flowers are very similar to an Hammamellis or Parrotia, the ‘experts’ have discussed the flower and plant and think it might be classed under Disanthus, however these do not flower and we definitely have flowers here. So more thoughts needed to decide what to call this plant.

We have more pictures of this plant on the garden diary if you are interesting in seeing more.
