Sunday 18th June 2017

Caerhays fete 2017This year’s Caerhays Mid-Summer Fete took place on Sunday 18th June and it was a great day.  There was not a cloud in the blue sky, which was on one side perfect and on the other just a bit too hot.  Luckily Caerhays is famous for its trees so shade was there for those who sought it.

The biennial charity fete, which raised cash for projects in the local village, was held on Father’s Day this year.

The many stalls, entertainment and displays were throughout the beautiful grounds of the Caerhays Estate, where visitors had one of their last chances to see the 120-acre Woodland Gardens in all their glory for the 2017 season.

Organisers laid on a host of great traditional family entertainment including popular local musicians like Jumping Out Jazz, the Devon and Cornwall Police Pipes and Drums band, the Camborne Youth Band and the Mevagissey Ladies Choir.

They serenaded the crowds at the all-day event which also included archery and fencing demonstrations, a heavy horse display.

Donations collected during the fete and from this year’s raffle will be split between the estate’s local Scout group, Tregony Primary School and St Michael’s Caerhays Church and Cornwall Hospice Care.
