After months of planning, designing, and growing, all of the hard work paid off as Burncoose Nurseries received the news that they have been awarded a well-deserved Gold Medal for their garden at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show.

Designed by Geraldine Hood-Leeder and Louisa Lazarowicz, The Burncoose Nurseries garden, ‘Plants as Pollinators’, which is once again supported by Terra Firma, celebrates the importance of insects and animals as plant pollinators.

Alongside highlighting the importance of bees in plant pollination, the Burncoose garden features plants which attract flies, bats, beetles, moths and even those which rely on human intervention for pollination.

Commenting on the gold medal win, Charles Williams, owner of Burncoose Nurseries said, “Winning gold is a great honour and testament to all the hard work of the team. I’d like to thank them for the efforts and I’d also like to thank Terra Firma for their continued support of Burncoose Nurseries at RHS Chelsea Flower Show.”

The Burncoose Nurseries garden is once again supported by Terra Firma, one of Europe’s leading private equity firms. Terra Firma is also a generous supporter of youth charity The Prince’s Trust and use their sponsorship at RHS Chelsea to support the work of the charity. This year’s Prince’s Trust Ambassador, British actress Gemma Arterton, visited the Burncoose stand.

Commenting on the garden, Gemma said, “It’s great to see such a wonderful garden which, as well as showcasing fantastic design, also shares a powerful message about the many and varied animals we rely on for plant pollination. This highlights how so often it is the unsung and often unknown heroes we rely on, something which resonates with me as a Prince’s Trust Ambassador.”

Guy Hands, Chairman and Chief Investment Officer of Terra Firma, added, “Once again the Burncoose Nurseries show team have created a beautiful garden with a wonderful theme. This is a great illustration of the diversity of our natural world, and it teaches us a great deal about the health and genetic diversity on which much of our plant life depends. We are very proud to be supporting Burncoose Nurseries, and to also take this opportunity to highlight the great work being done by the Prince’s Trust.”

Terra Firma has sponsored the Burncoose Garden at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show since 2003. Terra Firma is a Patron of The Prince’s Trust and its support has helped disadvantaged young people through The Prince's Trust Enterprise Programme.

The Burncoose exhibit is located in the Great Pavilion Stand number GPF 198.
