  • Evergreen - elliptic to lance-shaped, leathery, dark-green leaves to 10cm (4in) long.
  • Purple - Shades of purple/mauve/lilac/violet - purplish pink
  • Height - 2-4m (6½-13ft)
  • Spread - 1.5m (5ft)
  • Tall Shrub - upright, rarely spreading habit. Flowers in terminal clusters of 7-15, larger than other varieties, to 2cm (¾in) across.
  • Hardy - average winter - Hardy through most of the UK apart from inland valleys, at altitude and central/northerly locations. May suffer foliage damage and stem dieback in harsh winters in cold gardens. Plant can withstand temperatures down to -10°C (14°F)

  • Additional Features - Good to know - - all daphnes resent transplanting.

  • Place of origin - eastern Himalayas. Garden origin. 1982. Seedling of Gurkha. Raised by Alan Postill, propagator at Hilliers.
