LEYCESTERIA

PLUCKED from the shrubberies and game coverts of Victoriana an easy shrub for the modern wildlife garden and border foil for exotica.

Genus of about 6 species of suckering deciduous shrubs from cliffs and mountain woodland in India, the Himalaya, China and Burma.

  • Medium shrub - Typically grow to around 4-6 feet in height - suckering shrubs with hollow, cane-like stems which collapse within 2-5 years, replacements appearing from the rootstock.
  • Full sun - shelter from cold winds
  • Partial shade
  • Additional Features - Good to know - - grown for their terminal or axillary racemes of attractive flowers or bracts. Good for woodland gardens.
