Commonly known as Privet
In the olive family.
Genus of about 45 species of deciduous, semi-evergreen, or evergreen shrubs and trees found in woodland and thickets in Europe, North Africa, the Himalayas, southwestern and eastern Asia and Australia.
The native, L. vulgare, is a valuable wildlife plant being the food source of the privet hawk moth caterpillar and a source of berries - poisonous to humans - for birds.
