    MACLURA

    Genus of 11 species of usually thorny evergreen or deciduous, dioecious trees, shrubs and climbers, the branches often reduced to spines, found in woodland and clearings, and by roadsides, from eastern Asia to Australia and from southern Central USA to South America.
