6th January 2021. In line with the current government lockdown rules, Burncoose Nurseries is closed to visitors. However at present we are able to offer click and collect to local customers. This will be weekdays only, not weekends. Mail order is continuing as normal. However please allow extra time for the couriers to deliver, once despatched from us. Sorry to say that some depots are experiencing high volumes of traffic, also staff shortages.

ALOE

Genus of 300-350 species of small to large, rosetted evergreen perennials ranging from shrub-like to tree-like.

They are found at various altitudes in the Cape Verde Islands, tropical and southern Africa, Madagascar and the Arabian peninsula.

Most have succulent leaves. The most commonly known, aloe vera is used variously in herbal medicine.

Fleshy green lance-shaped leaves each tipped with a soft white spine. Forms a tight rosette to 20cm. Tubular orange-red flowers in autumn on long stems. Tolerates light frost given good drainage
