    Commonly known as Emu bush, Kodjet, Pin-cushion hakea

    Flowers resemble a pin-cushion in shape when open, with a red-pink globular centre and white pins radiating out

      Erect shrub or small tree. Produces globular flowers, 5cm (2in) across from the axils. These are followed by woody, beaked seed pods

      Pruning: Minimal pruning required. Prune wayward or crossing branches to maintain a healthy framework.
      When: When dormant in the late winter/early spring. Some in the summer/autumn to prevent bleeding of sap.
