    PODOCARPUS

    Commonly known as Alpine totara

    Genus of about 100 species of dioecious, occasionally monoecious, evergreen, coniferous trees and shrubs from forests, mainly in warm-temperate to tropical zones.

    • Good to know
      Thrives in humid or high rainfall climates. Yew-like but not harmful. Wind pollinated. Male and female plants needed to produce plum-like, usually single seeded fruits with red fleshy aril at base. Genus notably resistant to honey fungus (Pfaf).

      Typically only grows to a maximum of one or two feet in height but there will be some exceptions.
