LAGERSTROEMIA



These extremely decorative and easy tall shrubs, require full sun and are best against a south facing wall. They have attractive bark and long panicles of flowers with good autumn colour as an added bonus. AUG-SEPT

Genus of about 50 species of deciduous or evergreen shrubs and trees. They occur in deciduous woodland, often near rivers, in warm-temperate and tropical regions from Asia to Australia.

The flowers, which are attractive to insects, have characteristic crinkled petals.

  • Deciduous - and evergreen shrubs and trees
  • Will grow outside in milder locations - This could include plants which would survive happily in a greenhouse or conservatory if not in a mild location. If you have a sheltered spot in your garden then it may do well here. - if growing in greenhouse use loam based compost. Allow full light and plenty of air.
