    TANACETUM

    Commonly known as Feverfew

Genus of about 70 species of annuals and evergreen and herbaceous perennials and subshrubs from mountains, cliffs and meadows, and dry slopes in northern temperate regions.

Grown for their daisy- or button-like flowers.

    Several have medicinal qualities.

The well-known native Feverfew, T. parthenium is usually listed as its synonyms, Chrysanthemum parthenium and Pyrethrum parthenium.

The other native, T. vulgare, Tansy, has traditionally been used to flavour eggs. The name is derived from an old name for herb-flavoured omelettes.
