F. longaeva (parmentieri) holds the record for the world's tallest flowering spike at about 40ft. In a good year produces quantities of bulbils which fall to the ground and are easily grown on.

Genus of 21 species of perennial succulents from desert-like areas of the West Indies, Central America and North and South America.
