F. longaeva (parmentieri) holds the record for the world's talleat flowering spike at about 40ft. In a good year produces quantities of bulbils which fall to the ground and are easily grown on.
Genus of 21 species of perennial succulents from desert-like areas of the West Indies, Central America and North and South America.
Succulent - dense clusters of long, fleshy leaves in terminal or basal rosettes. Flowers on single spikes.
Full sun - do not allow to get too wet in winter.
Additional Features - Good to know - - use in a desert garden or specimen in warmer climates.
Pests & Diseases - scale insects, particularly under glass.
Place of origin - West Indies, the Americas.
Soil Conditions - Well drained, dry, poor to moderately fertile soil - - plenty of grit for good drainage - desert loving plant.
