Commonly known as South African thistle
Like a sunflower but a bit rough and spiny. Long-lasting in bloom though and can be planted to deter unwelcome pets.
Genus of about 80 species of rosette-forming, often spiny-leaved biennials, perennials, evergreen subshrubs and shrubs found in open grassland and rocky areas in tropical Africa and South Africa.
