Striking stiff leathery mid-green leaves of up to 3 feet in length with spines. Trumpet-shaped yellow or green flowers on a tall spike

  • Evergreen - perennial bromeliad. Spreading, dense, terminal rosettes of lance-shaped leaves with marginal spines.
  • Yellow - greenish yellow
  • Height - 5m (16ft)
  • Spread - 2m (6½ft)
  • Tall Shrub - woody, swollen stem. Produces flowers to 5cm (2in) long with green sepals, in loosely branched panicles 1.5m (5ft) long.
  • Half hardy - unheated greenhouse / mild winter - Hardy in coastal and relatively mild parts of the UK except in severe winters and a risk from sudden (early) frosts. May be hardy elsewhere with wall shelter or good micro-climate. Likely to be damaged or killed in cold winters. Plant can withstand temperatures down to -5°C (23°F)
