Flowering from late winter into spring, hellebores provide a dependable show when other perennials are still half-asleep. Modern cultivars extend the flowering period, with many having attractive leaves to complement the floral display. Though very wet or very dry sites should be avoided, as should a very sunny site, hellebores are generally adaptable, succeeding best in light shade.
