A large shrub with flaky bark, vicious prickles and a profusion of clear single pink flowers

Burncoose Catalogue Code

Deciduous - light to mid-green leaves, each composed of 7, rarely 17-19, narrowly oval leaflets, 1.5-2.5cm (half to one inch) long.
Tall Shrub - vigorous, stiff-growing species rose with solitary, single flowers 8cm (3in) across opening from prickly buds. Unusual hips are round, green and heavily armed with spines - hence 'Chestnut rose'
