    • Good to know
      Naturalised in southern UK. Was introduced from Turkey in the late 1900's but timber was found to be of poor quality.
    • Pests & Diseases
      Aphids, gall wasps, oak wilt, honey fungus, powdery mildew, bracket fungi.
    • Place of origin
      Central and southern Europe
    • Deciduous
      Oblong-elliptic to oblong-lance-shaped, deeply lobed or toothed, dark-green leaves to 12cm (5in). Often remain on tree in a withered state all winter.
    • Coastal / windswept
      Tolerant of full exposure to sea winds

      Fast growing. Grey-white bark. Solitary acorns or in groups of 2-4

      When: When dormant in the late winter/early spring. Some in the summer/autumn to prevent bleeding of sap.
