  • Deciduous - oblong-elliptic to oblong-lance-shaped, deeply lobed or toothed, dark-green leaves to 12cm (5in). Often remain on tree in a withered state all winter.
  • Height - 30m (98ft)

  • Tree - fast growing. Grey-white bark. Solitary acorns or in groups of 2-4
  • Hardy - very cold winter - Hardy in all of UK and northern Europe. Plant can possibly withstand temperatures down to -20°C (-4°F)

  • Additional Features - Good to know - - naturalised in southern UK. Was introduced from Turkey in the late 1900's but timber was found to be of poor quality.
