  • Semi-evergreen
    Keeps some of its foliage all year, and will drop some leaves as well.
    Finely toothed leaves 2-4cm (¾ to 1½in) long.

  • Tree
    Shoots are pendulous at the tips. The young bark is dark grey with horizontal bands of pale lenticels. Bark cracks after about 10 years, becoming rugged and reddish with large, jagged scales

    Hardy in most places throughout the UK even in severe winters. May not withstand open/exposed sites or central/northern locations. Plant can withstand temperatures down to -15°C (5°F)
