My Burncoose




6th January 2021. In line with the current government lockdown rules, Burncoose Nurseries is closed to visitors. However at present we are able to offer click and collect to local customers. This will be weekdays only, not weekends. Mail order is continuing as normal. However please allow extra time for the couriers to deliver, once despatched from us. Sorry to say that some depots are experiencing high volumes of traffic, also staff shortages.

CALCEOLARIA integrifolia

Commonly known as Pouch flower, Slipper flower

A sun-loving but not fully hardy plant with corymbs of large yellow flowers in mid-late summer

  • Evergreen - opposite, linear-lance-shaped to ovate-lance-shaped leaves to 5cm (2in) long, often red-hairy beneath
  • Yellow
  • Height - to 1.2m (4ft)
  • Spread - 23-30cm (9-12in)
  • Medium shrub - Typically grow to around 4-6 feet in height - subshrubby perennial usually grown as an annual. Softly hairy young shoots. Produces clusters of 10-35 slipper-like flowers to 2.5cm (1in) long.
  • Heated greenhouse - warm temperate - Can be grown outside in summer. Plant can withstand temperatures down to 5°C (41°F)

  • Additional Features - Good to know - - syn. C. rugosa. Flowers are produced over a long period in summer. Requires cool, moist conditions to flower freely.
