The Nursery will be open as normal during the Christmas period, except Bank Holidays, and will be closing at 1.30pm on Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve.

      Native to the Balkans, these nuts were traditionally brought into churches on Aug 20th, St. Philibert's Day.

      Heart-shaped leaves to 14cm (5½in) long.

      Upright tree-like shrub. Pendent catkins 5-8cm (2-3in) long are purple-tinged as are fruit husks.

      Suitable for: Deciduous and evergreen trees, and some deciduous shrubs.
      Pruning: Minimal pruning required. Prune wayward or crossing branches to maintain a healthy framework.
      When: When dormant in the late winter/early spring. Some in the summer/autumn to prevent bleeding of sap.
